******************************************** SOLD ******************************************** ******************************************** I'm inspired about Van and Hitomi from the Escaflowne movie. ALL WAS MADE BY MY OWN HANDS and TRADITIONAL MEDIA I painted it with gouach Linel paint. The background (sky, Moon and Earth was made with airbrush with the same gouach paint) all was painted with handbrush. Black lines too. this painting is sized 16.5" x 11.5" (42cm x 30cm, A3 size..) Now, I do have to say, that you captured the style beautifully, and they seem to be exactly how I remember them- in the Motion Picture. The series had a little bit different style of drawing, whereas the Movie, though dark "prettied" them all up a little more, with slightly different character designs. Any fan art that can capture the original style in good mimicry is worth noting, because in my opinion, that is harder to do than it appears. Emulating and incorporating another's style is very difficult.
The background is beautiful and fits the mood wonderfully. The forground is captivating, even if the darker grass blades do not fit into your "light scheme," it actually adds character and depth to the painting.
The fact that this was all hand painted, very "cell" like only testifies to your patience, and understanding of the medium.
Van's arm does not appear to be quite right, however it does not distract from the art. And the balance is off...only a tid bit, as I would have liked to those clouds wisp up a hair more on the left to compliment the two moons. Then again, I'm just trying to find something to improve on in a phenomenal piece!
Beautiful work, worth noting and Fan art in one of it's greatest. Congratulations!
